Puppy Care

Everything You Need to Know About Taking Care of Your New Puppy!

Bringing home a new puppy is a joyful occasion. These wiggling, excited bundles of fur offer us immeasurable joy. Having a puppy is also a big responsibility. As pet parents, it’s our job to make sure our puppy stays clean, healthy, and well looked after. This means feeding your puppy properly, getting them the required vaccinations, making sure they get regular veterinary and dental care and watching for the sometimes subtle signs that may indicate they might not be in tip-top health.

Puppy Proof Your House:

Puppies are very mischievous and rambunctious, especially tiny dogs like Yorkies. The best way to puppy proof your house is making sure any hazardous items are out-of-reach. Like babies, puppies love to stick everything in their mouths and small objects can be a choking hazard. Cleaning products should be kept away from where the puppy is stationed at or playing at. A new home can be very overwhelming to your new friend and it is best to set him/her up an area that will be a "Safe Zone" for them. We kennel train our dogs so that becomes their area (safe zone).

Nutrition:

Giving your puppy the correct balance of proteins, vitamins, and other nutrients they need will help ward off everything from gum disease to allergies. Keeping your puppy at their appropriate weight will help prevent debilitating joint and bone problems and ensure a long and active life. We feed our dogs Nature's Select to ensure that our dogs are healthy and receive all necessary vitamins and minerals. Do some research on Premium Dog Foods before committing to a dog food.

The most important thing of all, love and have fun with your new puppy!
